At 15, Wilson Bentley would study snowflakes under a microscope and then laboriously illustrate them. He eventually began using a bellows camera, and after much trial and error, he managed to make the first clear photograph of a snowflake on 15 January, 1885. He dedicated the next 46 years to the study of snowflakes, eventually proving that no two snowflakes are alike.
