In Alfred Hitchcock’s famous 1954 suspense movie The Rear Window, actor Jimmy Stewart used an Exakta camera, founded by Germany-based Ihagee Kamerawerk in 1912. In the movie, Stewart plays a photographer who spies on his neighbours while he recuperates from a broken leg. The suspense and mystery unfold through the actor’s camera and his binoculars. The Exakta camera is considered as a pioneer brand amongst German cameras.
