Timothy H O’Sullivan was 15 when he began his photography career under the mentorship of renowned Civil War documented, Mathew Brady. He extensively photographed the soldiers in various conditions, and became best known for his image, A Harvest of Death, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania (1863). However, he grew more attached to making landscapes, and went on to create work that inspired people to travel to the West.
