Louis Daguerre entered into an association with Joseph Nicéphore Niépce in 1829, to make improvements to the latter’s process. After Niépce’s sudden demise in 1833, Daguerre continued to experiment, and achieved success in1834. It wasn’t until January 1839 that his process was announced, and the French Government made a deal with him to share it with the world. Later, Daguerre’s view of the Boulevard du Temple in Paris unintentionally captured a man getting his shoes shined, standing still just long enough for the exposure to capture him. This has come to be known as the first photograph of a human being.
