An Early 3-D Fixation

Stereographs are an early form of three-dimensional photographs, wherein two seemingly identical pictures would be placed side-by-side on cardboard. They were then viewed through a stereoscope to amplify the illusion of depth. This created a sight that was astonishing for the times. It was an instant success amongst people, as it reached across class lines and was easily affordable.
